Al-Sawari Theatre presented its new monodrama “The Accidental Guest” on the stage of the Cultural Hall on December 14 and 15, 2025. The production offered a theatrical experience marked by artistic intensity and a strong integration between performance and intellectual inquiry, reflecting the theatre’s direction toward producing contemporary works that rely on the power of the idea and the simplicity of theatrical means.

The work is written by Yusuf Al Hamdan, directed by Ibrahim Al Mansi, and performed by Kamil Al Busaidi. The production relied on the energy of a single actor to carry the dramatic narrative, embodying a lost human character in whom existential questions intersect with the anxieties of war, within a deeply layered performance that engages with human unease and its repercussions. The text presents a dramatic treatment that delves into turbulent inner worlds, where coincidence becomes a pivotal turning point that reshapes awareness. Meanwhile, the directorial vision conveyed this approach through a minimalistic visual and auditory language, enhancing the presence of the central idea and opening broad horizons of interpretation for the audience.

On the technical level, Abdullah Al Bakri handled the scenography and lighting design, offering a visual treatment based on the use of space and light to serve the emotional atmosphere. Meanwhile, Abdulrahman Al Attawi prepared the music and sound effects, with musical execution by Yusuf Al Najdi, contributing to the creation of a cohesive internal rhythm for the performance.

The production also received supervisory support from Khaled Jalal and Riyadh Saif, under the supervision of Ali Abu Deeb, alongside linguistic editing by Nadia Al Mallah—reflecting the integration of artistic and administrative efforts contributed by the team. “The Accidental Guest” comes as an extension of Al-Sawari Theatre’s commitment to presenting high-quality theatrical experiences rooted in the questions of the contemporary human condition, while seeking to create an aesthetic and intellectual dialogue with the audience through flexible theatrical forms capable of engaging across diverse performance spaces.
